Subsea Valley appointed Norwegian Centre of Expertise!

Our world leading subsea engineering cluster has been appointed Norwegian Centre of Expertise – Energy Technology by the Norwegian Innovation Cluster program.
Our new national status is an important milestone to further develop this amazing cluster over the years to come.
Many of you ask us; will we change our name or loose focus on subsea engineering and technology? The answer to that is very easy:
Subsea Valley shall remain and further develop the position as a world-leading cluster for subsea engineering and technology. But, the NCE status has given us the opportunity to realize our strategy to take on a further responsibility based on the existing competence and industry being represented in our region.
Both globally and in Norway we see that oil giants are transforming into energy companies. Total and Statoil are two examples of that. Our new status as a National Centre of Expertise, represents a unique opportunity to fortify and further develop Norway’s leading position as an energy nation, and contribute to a sustainable energy future, creating new business opportunities and strengthening our members competitiveness.
The cluster’s world leading competence within advanced engineering, complex operations and technology for extreme environments will form the base of a strong contribution to global energy conversion and renewal, as well as for exploring a broad range of new prospects and potential for technology and competence cross-overs to other industry sectors.
Hence, this is also an opportunity to strengthen the region’s attractiveness to companies, talents, researchers, investors and founders of new businesses – developing an eco-system for innovation and value creation.
So, summarized; what is the “new” Subsea Valley?
- Maintain and develop the cluster’s position as global leader in engineering and subsea technology
- A systematic effort to accelerate the world-leading subsea engineering SMEs and cluster into a sustainable energy future
- Increased value creation through cross-overs to other industry sectors
- A strategic long-term initiative to establish the region as global energy technology hub
Subsea Valley – Engineering the Energy Future.
Let me finish by welcoming several new members to our cluster over the last months. Lukoil, Arundo Analytics, Solution Seeker, Turbulent Flux, Fugro, Nipunn Engineering, Nautilus Subsea, Oliasoft. And several more to be announced very soon.
I will meet many of you on Dec 19`th for our annual Christmas Breakfast – but if not: Merry Christmas.
