Opportunities for SMEs through Norway’s participation in new EU programme

By Maja Busch Sevaldsen, EU Advisor|Published 30 April 2021|Category: EU, News

Norway is set to participate in the new EU programme InvestEU, that will run from 2021-2027. The programme will give Norwegian SMEs and industry access to loans, gurantees and equity from insitutions such as the European Investment Bank and the European Investment Fund.

InvestEU will be a key part of Europe’s green transition, strengthening the capital market in the early stages of indutrial development in Europe. The EU aims to trigger public and private investment of up to 372 billion Euros through the programme.

What does this mean for Norwegian companies?

For Norway, the government has signalised that only parts of the programme will be available for Norwegian actors. Which parts this will be, is to be decided in detail through the 2022 fiscal budget.

The programme consists of three building blocks:

  1. The InvestEU Fund
  2. The InvestEU Advisory Hub
  3. The InvestEU Portal
